Grave bearing Adolf Hitler name found at historic Bucharest cemetery
The Israeli Embassy in Romania said a grave bearing the name Adolf Hitler has been identified at the Philanthropy Jewish Cemetery in Bucharest.
The embassy shared the information in a post on its official X account, noting that the cemetery, established in 1865, is the largest and oldest of the three surviving Jewish cemeteries in the Romanian capital.

“There is another detail that may surprise you: a grave engraved with the name ‘Adolf Hitler,’” the embassy wrote.
According to the embassy, the individual buried there was not the Nazi dictator, but an Austrian-born Jewish man who worked as a hatmaker and shared the same name.
The Philanthropy Cemetery is one of the best-known Jewish burial sites in Bucharest and contains graves dating back to the 19th century.
