Great Return: 29 more families return to villages in Khojaly district Photo
As part of Azerbaijan’s ongoing Great Return initiative, 29 families are returning to the villages of Shushakand, Ballica, and Badara in Azerbaijan’s Khojaly district.
The families had previously been living temporarily in various parts of the country, mainly in dormitories, sanatoriums, and administrative buildings, Caliber.Az reports per local media.
At this stage, 14 families (51 people) are being resettled in Shushakand, 9 families (38 people) in Ballica, and 6 families (18 people) in Badara.
With this resettlement, the permanent return of 93 families (341 people) to Shushakand, 237 families (1,054 people) to Ballica, and 43 families (154 people) to Badara will be ensured.
Launched immediately after the Victory in the 44-day war of 2020, the Great Return program is a multifaceted effort to resettle over 1 million former internally displaced persons (IDPs) in their native lands by 2030. It encompasses reconstruction of housing, infrastructure, schools, hospitals, and utilities, with a focus on mine clearance and sustainable development.
