Great Return: Jabrayil's Khorovlu village opens its doors to new residents PHOTO
Thirty-eight families comprising 139 people have returned to the village of Khorovlu in the Jabrayil district, as Azerbaijan continues large-scale resettlement to territories liberated from occupation under the instructions of President Ilham Aliyev.
The families had been living temporarily in various parts of the country, mainly in dormitories, sanatoriums and administrative buildings, Caliber.Az reports per local media.
The returnees expressed gratitude to President Ilham Aliyev and First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva for the comprehensive state support enabling their return. They also thanked the Azerbaijani Army, praising its heroic soldiers and officers, and honoured the memory of the martyrs who gave their lives for the liberation of the lands.
This resettlement is part of Azerbaijan's ongoing large-scale program to revive life in the liberated territories of Karabakh and East Zangezur, directed by President Ilham Aliyev's instructions.
Launched immediately after the Victory in the 44-day war of 2020, the Great Return program is a multifaceted effort to resettle over 1 million former internally displaced persons (IDPs) in their native lands by 2030. It encompasses reconstruction of housing, infrastructure, schools, hospitals, and utilities, with a focus on mine clearance and sustainable development.
