Guinea’s government falls as president orders Cabinet dismissal
President Mamady Doumbouya has dismissed the government of Guinea, led by transitional Prime Minister Amadou Oury Bah, Guinée 360 reports.
The president has instructed the secretaries-general of the ministries to continue managing day-to-day administrative affairs until a new government is formed. The appointment of a new prime minister and the announcement of the cabinet’s composition are expected in the coming days.
The dismissal comes nearly a week after Doumbouya formally assumed office as President of Guinea, following his victory in the presidential election held on December 28, 2025. Under the country’s constitution, the presidential term is set at seven years.
Doumbouya initially came to power in September 2021 after a military coup that ousted then-president Alpha Condé. The December elections were preceded by the adoption of a new constitution through a nationwide referendum. Parliamentary elections are anticipated in the near future, a step expected to complete Guinea’s transition back to civilian rule.
