Hacking group Handala claims breach of former Mossad official’s emails
A hacking group known as Handala has claimed it breached the email systems of a former senior Mossad official, obtaining tens of thousands of confidential documents.
According to SNN, which cited a statement from the group, the target was Ilan Steiner, previously head of Mossad’s budget department and currently serving as chief financial officer of Israel’s National Security Agency.
The group said it had accessed more than 50,000 emails and documents. These materials allegedly contain financial and operational details related to Mossad activities, including investigation planning, analytical reports, and the management of resources for intelligence operations.
The hackers further claimed that the documents include information on the financing of operations, support for media platforms, and oversight of an agent network in the region. They highlighted Steiner’s role in allocating resources for both research and operational programs.
According to the group, the publication of the data has raised concern within Israeli security institutions and attracted international attention to the internal workings of Israel’s intelligence system. The claims have not been independently verified.
