Hamas ceases communication with Gaza reps
The Palestinian Hamas movement has stopped communication with the leaders of Hamas groups in the Gaza Strip after an attack by Israeli forces in Al-Mawasi area near Khan Younis city in southern Gaza.
Hamas stopped communication with its representatives in Gaza after the Israeli strike on Al-Mawasi area, which killed at least 70 people, including leader of Hamas militant wing in Khan Younis Rafa Salama, Caliber.Az reports citing the foreign media.
The main purpose of Israel's attack on Al-Mawasi was to eliminate Hamas' military leader Mohammed Deif.
Hamas was warned about the planned action to eliminate some of its leaders in Gaza so Deif and some other Hamas leaders in Gaza constantly changed their places of residence.
Over the past few weeks, Israel has arrested a number of second and third echelon Hamas leaders, from whom it could obtain more detailed information about the movements of Hamas leaders in Gaza.
Deif was wounded during the bombing near Khan Younis. As a result of the Israeli attack, several radicals who were part of the group ensuring the personal security of the leader of Hamas military wing were killed.
A representative of the movement stated that only civilians became victims of the Israeli army strike near Khan Younis.
The Israeli side’s statements that the strike on Al-Mawasi area was aimed at eliminating the leaders of Hamas militant wing are a lie, a justification for the actions of Israeli forces and an attempt to hide the scale of the tragedy near Khan Younis.
Israel and Hamas have a complex and contentious relationship rooted in decades of conflict over territory, governance, and security. Hamas is an Islamist Palestinian militant organization that governs the Gaza Strip, which borders Israel and Egypt.
Hamas has been involved in numerous attacks against Israeli civilians and military targets, including suicide bombings, rocket attacks, and other forms of violence.
Israel views Hamas as a threat to its security due to these attacks and its refusal to recognize Israel's right to exist. The conflict between Israel and Hamas has resulted in multiple wars and numerous periods of intense violence, causing significant casualties and humanitarian suffering on both sides.
Efforts to negotiate a lasting peace between Israel and Hamas, mediated by various international actors, have seen intermittent success and failures, with the situation remaining highly volatile and complex.
