Hezbollah claims drone strikes on Israeli military targets south of Haifa
Hezbollah announced that it deployed attack drones against an Israeli military base located south of the coastal city of Haifa on October 22. The group further claimed to have targeted seven tanks near the border.
Fighters launched “attack drones” on a “base south of Haifa,” the group stated, also asserting that throughout the day, they fired upon a total of five Israeli tanks within Lebanese territory and two across the border in northern Israel, Caliber.Az reports per foreign media.
Meanwhile, the Israeli military announced on October 22 that one of its airstrikes outside Beirut earlier this month resulted in the death of a prominent Hezbollah official, who had been widely anticipated to become the group's next leader.
There has been no immediate confirmation from the militant organisation regarding the status of Hashem Safieddine.
Notably, Safieddine, a significant cleric within the party, was believed to be the successor to Hassan Nasrallah, one of the group’s founders, who was killed in Beirut, Lebanon, following an Israeli airstrike in September.
Israel claimed that Safieddine was killed in an airstrike in early October in a southern suburb of Beirut. According to Israeli reports, approximately 25 other Hezbollah leaders also lost their lives during this strike.
