Hezbollah confirms commander’s death in Israeli strike
The Lebanese Shiite Hezbollah movement has confirmed the death of Ibrahim Qubaisi, a senior commander in charge of its missile forces, following an Israeli airstrike.
In a statement, Hezbollah declared that “commander Ibrahim Mohammed Qubaisi” became “a martyr on the road to Jerusalem” due to the attack, Caliber.Az reports via foreign media.
Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) spokesman Daniel Hagari revealed that the Israeli Air Force (IAF) strike in Beirut not only eliminated Qubaisi but also two other commanders. He emphasized that Qubaisi had recently played a significant role in shelling Israel, including the launch of 300 rockets on September 24 alone.
Hagari stated, “We will continue to show what Hezbollah has been doing for the past 20 years: as part of a large-scale project, they have turned thousands of civilian homes in southern Lebanon, and not only in the south, into terrorist bases, turning them into a war zone.”
On September 25 night, the Israeli Air Force targeted the Jiyeh Saadiyat area, located about 20 kilometres south of Beirut, reportedly striking a “warehouse.” Explosions were heard in the capital, but no casualties were reported, although ambulances were dispatched to the scene.
Lebanon's acting foreign minister, Abdallah Bou Habib, stated that the number of displaced individuals in Lebanon is nearing half a million, while the death toll from Israeli attacks has exceeded 550.
On September 23, the IDF commenced Operation Arrows of the North, targeting Hezbollah positions in Lebanon, including the homes of residents believed to be storing the group's weapons.
