Historian Melkonian: While Armenia spoils relations with its neighbors, Azerbaijan improves them
An Armenian historian has said that while Armenia spoils relations with its neighbours, Azerbaijan improves them.
“Not a single country, not even the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) or Russia, can prevent a war threatening Armenia, because after 2018, as a result of the Armenian government's policy, our allies have become allies of Azerbaijan, thanks to Baku's fruitful activities,” PhD in History Sergei Melkonian said in an interview with an Armenian media, Caliber.Az reports.
“Moreover, Armenia has spoiled relations even with its real ally Iran, while Azerbaijan has achieved good relations with Iran. The West thinks zero Iran, not enough Russia. The vacuum in the region can be filled by Türkiye, after Iran and Russia. And the Armenian government is leading its country along this very path, and it has the support of the West in this matter," he added.
"Armenia criticizes Russia, it gets the support of the West, which it will lose if it stops criticizing. As for the support of EU observers, I have to recall the words of Head of the European Union Mission in Armenia Markus Ritter: in case of military actions, we will leave the places of hostilities, if they continue, we must leave the state,” Melkonian underlined.
