Hungarian PM says new US strategy shows Europe faces civilisational crisis “What goes around comes around”
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán praised the new U.S. national security strategy, calling it “the most important and interesting document of recent years” on the social network X.
Orbán noted that the document addresses Brussels “in the same tone that the Biden administration and Brussels used when speaking about Hungary,” adding, “what goes around comes around,” Caliber.Az reports.
He said the strategy reflects conclusions about Europe’s prolonged economic stagnation, which, in his view, has made the continent a “weak ally” unable to reliably defend its own interests.
The Hungarian leader also stated that the U.S. sees a civilizational crisis in Europe, where democratic values and the free market are under threat. He claimed that American policymakers view Europe’s break with Russia as a mistake and advocate for the restoration of ties on a strategic level.
In conclusion, Orbán said the United States “has a precise understanding of Europe’s decline” and that "at last" Hungary is “not fighting against it [EU crisis] alone.”
