The Atlantic: US considers four bold strategies against Iran
The United States is evaluating four main courses of action regarding Iran, all carrying risks due to Tehran’s control over the Strait of Hormuz and its impact on global oil prices, The Atlantic reports.
One option under consideration is launching a ground operation to seize critical oil export infrastructure, a move that could sharply drive up oil prices and heighten the likelihood of broader conflict escalation.
Another possibility involves the US unilaterally declaring victory and withdrawing its forces, though this approach still carries the danger of future hostilities.
Resuming negotiations with Iran is also on the table, even though experts judge the probability of success to be low.
Finally, Washington could continue military operations without committing to a ground offensive, a strategy whose feasibility is questioned given the rapid depletion of US military resources.
