ICESCO to send new mission to liberated territories of Azerbaijan

Azerbaijani Ambassador to Morocco, the country’s Permanent Representative to the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO) Nazim Samadov has said ICESCO will send a new mission to the liberated territories of Azerbaijan in the coming months.

In an interview with Report, the diplomat recalled that in 2022 ICESCO sent the first mission of international experts to study the state of Azerbaijan's cultural heritage in the liberated territories.

"Prepared by the experts report on our cultural heritage in the territories liberated during the war is currently being studied and referred to by international courts. Following the anti-terrorist measures carried out in September 2023, ICESCO appealed to Azerbaijan with request to send a second mission to the region and the mission consisting of international experts will visit the region in the coming months," Samadov noted.

Meanwhile, the Azerbaijani ambassador president of the Chamber of Councillors of the Moroccan Parliament Naam Miyara and Morocco's Minister of Youth, Culture and Communication Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid were invited to visit Azerbaijan.

He noted that last year was full of visits and certain reciprocal visits are scheduled for this year.

"In 2023, Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, Milli Majlis Speaker Sahiba Gafarova, Ombudsperson Sabina Aliyeva, Culture Minister Adil Karimli, Central Bank Chairman Taleh Kazimov, Milli Majlis Deputy Speaker Adil Aliyev, representatives of 10 central executive bodies visited Morocco to participate in the 2nd session of the intergovernmental commission. Moroccan officials, including President of the House of Representatives Rachid Talbi El Alami, Minister of Solidarity, Social Integration and Family Aawatif Hayar and others visited Azerbaijan last year," Samadov added.
