India arrests 14 suspected Al-Qaeda members for plotting terror attacks
Indian police have detained 14 individuals suspected of being affiliated with the Al-Qaeda terrorist network, who were allegedly planning terrorist attacks, including in the nation's capital.
The arrests were made in a coordinated operation involving police forces from New Delhi, as well as the states of Jharkhand, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh, Caliber.Az reports via foreign media.
The group's leader, identified as Dr. Ishtiyaq from Ranchi in Jharkhand, was allegedly orchestrating plans to establish a caliphate and engage in terrorist activities across the country.
Six of the suspects were apprehended in Rajasthan while undergoing weapons training, while eight others were detained in Jharkhand and Uttar Pradesh. During the raids, police seized weapons, ammunition, and extremist literature.
The investigation is ongoing, and authorities anticipate making additional arrests.
