Iran caps Strait of Hormuz traffic at 15 ships a day under US ceasefire
Iran will limit the number of vessels passing through the Strait of Hormuz to no more than 15 per day under a ceasefire arrangement with the United States, according to a source cited by a Russian news agency.
The source said a return to the pre-conflict status quo had been ruled out, indicating that maritime transit through the strategic waterway would now operate under new restrictions.
“Movement is strictly dependent on Iran’s approval and adherence to a specific protocol. This new regulatory framework, operating under the supervision of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, has been formally communicated to regional parties,” the source said.
Tehran is also pressing Washington to unfreeze Iranian assets within the next two weeks, the source added, framing the demand as a key condition of the agreement.
In addition, Iran is seeking to formalise the ceasefire through a resolution at the United Nations Security Council, according to the same source.
