Iran repairing Russian cargo ship damaged on Volga River

Iran is repairing a Russian bulk carrier after being damaged by chunks of ice on the Volga River.

Meysam Rayatazad, the acting head of the state-run Iran Marine Industrial Company, said the unnamed ship had arrived at a shipyard owned by the company's Caspian Complex on 25 December, Iran’s Tasnim news agency reported on December 28.

This comes months after Iran said it was helping to repair several Russian civilian aircraft.

Iran Marine Industrial Company (SADRA) and is affiliated with the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), which is building Aframax 2 tankers for Venezuela.
