Iran’s largest steel producer halts production after US-Israel strikes
Iran’s largest steel producer, Mobarakeh Steel, has fully halted operations after sustaining damage to its production facilities in reported US and Israeli strikes.
In a statement on Thursday, April 2, cited by Iran International, the company said that all production lines have been completely shut down due to the extent of the damage, adding that operations cannot be resumed for the time being.
According to Iran International, Mobarakeh Steel also instructed employees not to report to the complex until further notice, citing safety concerns and ongoing disruption.
The development follows reports from Iranian state media last week that the United States and Israel carried out strikes targeting two of the country’s largest steel producers: Mobarakeh Steel, located in Isfahan, and Khuzestan Steel Company in Ahvaz.
Earlier on Thursday, Khuzestan Steel said that repairs to its facilities could take anywhere from six months to a year, underscoring the scale of the damage inflicted on Iran’s steel sector.
