Iran signals openness to student demands amid university protests
The Iranian government is willing to review and address the demands articulated by students amid their demonstrations on university campuses, President Masoud Pezeshkian stated.
Speaking at a cabinet meeting, Pezeshkian emphasized that protests are a sign of a vibrant social life, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.
“If some people protest, they can express their objections. Protest is a sign of a dynamic social life, and we are ready to visit universities and communicate directly with students,” he said.
The presidential press office noted that government officials are obliged to visit universities and foster a culture of dialogue. Pezeshkian stressed that it is essential not only to listen to protesters but also to take concrete actions to address their concerns and issues.
The announcement follows a series of student demonstrations at several Iranian universities, where participants voiced dissatisfaction with government policies while affirming support for the existing state system.
