Iran: Soil instability causes tunnel collapse in Esfahan metro
On the morning of February 5, a tunnel collapse occurred on the under-construction second line of the metro system at the Omid Square station in Esfahan, Iran.
The collapse was caused by the type of soil in the area and the unexpected interaction with layers of sandy masses along the tunnel's route, according to reports from the Isfahan Emergency Management Department, Caliber.Az reports via Iranian media.
The affected tunnel is part of the communication path connecting Dark Station to two city railway depots.
Fortunately, the department confirmed that no casualties were reported from the incident. Emergency crews responded quickly to the scene, ensuring the safety of workers and securing the area.
