Iranian army spokesperson says conflict with US “not over”
Iran’s military has stated that it does not consider its confrontation with the United States to be over, citing continued distrust of Washington and what it described as ongoing operational readiness.
Brigadier General Mohammad Akraminia, spokesman for the Islamic Republic of Iran’s army, said the armed forces had drawn on recent conflict experience and remained prepared for renewed hostilities, while also highlighting claimed strikes on US-linked positions in the region, Caliber.Az reports via Iranian media.
“As Iran does not trust the United States and its enemies, it does not consider the war to be over," according to the Iranian army spokesman on April 28.
The spokesman detailed what he described as military operations carried out by Iranian forces against regional bases, including facilities in Iraq, Kuwait and Qatar, and referred to media reports concerning Iranian air capabilities.
"The army's air forces attacked enemy bases in the countries of the region, including the adversary bases in Erbil, Iraq, Kuwait, and Qatar. Recently, a report was published by an American media outlet that referred to the successful operation of the Air Force's F-5 fighter jets. These fighter jets successfully penetrated the various layers of defence that the Americans had designed and targeted the American base," the military spokesman said.
He also claimed Iranian ground forces had responded to an alleged incursion in southern Isfahan, asserting that hostile aircraft were downed during the incident.
"During the enemy's infiltration in southern Isfahan, the ground forces immediately took action and, with their quick reaction, shot down the hostile American aircraft. This decisive response resulted in the defeat of the enemy's operation," he said in apparent reference to the alleged US operation to rescue one of their pilot.
General Akraminia further said Iran’s military had incorporated lessons from what he described as “12-day and 40-day war” experiences and was continuing to upgrade its equipment in anticipation of any escalation. He added that Iran does not consider the conflict concluded due to lack of trust in its adversaries.
