Iranian official criticizes international support for Israel amid escalating tensions
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Nasser Kanani sharply criticized international backing for Israel, comparing it to "betting on a limping losing horse in a race."
Kanani's comments came in the context of ongoing violence and political turmoil in the region. "After 11 months of all-out and frenzied war against the Gaza Strip and the brutal killing of over 41,000 Palestinian civilians," Kanani said in a recent post on his X account, Caliber.Az reports.
"The rifts among Zionist leaders, resignations of political, military, and security officials, and widespread public protests and strikes within the Zionist entity have reached unprecedented levels of expansion and intensity," the spokesman emphasized.
He noted the growing divide within Israeli society and its leadership. "The growing schism within the Israeli society and regime is now visible to the entire world," Kanani observed. "Some Zionist leaders and experts are openly discussing the dangers and the process of 'Israel's' collapse."
Kanani further criticized the Israeli government, describing it as a "terrorist gang ruling Tel Aviv." He accused Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of exacerbating the regime's decline. "The war criminal - Netanyahu - will only accelerate the internal and international decline of the regime the longer he remains in power," Kanani asserted. "The sound of Zionism's bones breaking is growing louder. Supporting it to continue the crimes against Palestinians, in addition to the legal and international responsibility, is betting on a losing and doomed horse."
The Middle East situation has significantly worsened following a major escalation on October 7, 2023. On that day, Hamas militants from the Gaza Strip breached Israeli territory, leading to the deaths of residents in border towns and the capture of hostages. In retaliation, Israel initiated a military operation in Gaza aimed at dismantling Hamas's military and political infrastructure and rescuing the hostages.
