Fars: 78 dead, 329 injured in Tehran alone
At least 78 people have been killed and another 329 injured in Israeli strikes on Tehran Province, according to initial figures released by the Fars news agency on X.
These numbers have yet to be officially confirmed by the relevant authorities, Caliber.Az reports.
To recall, in the early hours of June 13, the Israel Defence Forces (IDF) launched a large-scale military operation, codenamed Rising Lion, carrying out multiple precision airstrikes across Iranian territory. The campaign, led by the Israeli Air Force (IAF), focused on military installations and elements of Iran’s nuclear infrastructure.
Initial reports suggest the strikes hit several strategic sites in Tehran, resulting in the deaths of key Iranian military and scientific figures. Among those reportedly killed were Major General Mohammad Bagheri, Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces, and General Hossein Salami, commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). The IRGC has since confirmed Salami’s death.
The operation extended to other regions, including Tabriz and Shiraz. In Tabriz, an airstrike targeted the Shekari Air Defence Headquarters near the city’s international airport. Eyewitnesses described hearing multiple explosions and seeing dense black smoke rising from the area.
In Shiraz, a missile manufacturing facility was struck, according to reports citing the Tasnim News Agency.
