Iraq confirms drone attacks on US-led coalition military bases
Spokesman for the Iraqi prime minister Sabah al-Numan has confirmed that several military bases in Iraq hosting forces of the US-led international coalition were struck by drone attacks on June 23.
The radar systems at the Taji and Ali military bases sustained the most significant damage, Caliber.Az reports via Iraqi news agency.
In addition, there was an attempted strike on four other military installations within Iraq; however, these attacks were successfully intercepted before causing harm.
Importantly, the spokesman emphasised that there were no casualties resulting from the drone strikes. In response to the attacks, Prime Minister al-Sudani has ordered the creation of a high-level special committee to thoroughly investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Al-Numan highlighted the government’s firm stance, stating that “such crimes must not go unpunished,” signaling a strong commitment to holding those responsible accountable.
