Iraq restores key gas exports as Khor Mor field recovers from attack
Gas exports from Iraq’s Khor Mor field — one of the largest natural gas sites in the Kurdistan region — resumed on November 29, days after a drone strike halted production, sources told Reuters.
According to the sources, only liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) exports have restarted. The attack-related shutdown continues to affect the natural gas supply used for regional power generation, which has not yet been restored.
Joint field operator Dana Gas reported on Thursday that a rocket struck a storage tank at the facility, forcing an immediate suspension of production and triggering widespread power outages across the region.
Authorities have not identified the perpetrators, and no group has claimed responsibility for the Wednesday drone attack.
The strike marks the most serious incident since a wave of drone attacks in July, which targeted oilfields and reduced the Kurdistan region’s production by approximately 150,000 barrels per day.
