Officials reviewed the current security situation, including the consequences of attacks on Iraqi targets and the broader escalation of conflict after strikes against the Islamic Republic of Iran. Al-Sudani and other leaders stressed that Iraq, its government, and its people categorically reject war and aggression in all forms, warning that the attacks had caused damage to facilities in Iraq and resulted in civilian casualties and injuries.
The leadership also condemned attacks on Iran, calling any actions against its people, sovereignty, and state institutions unacceptable. They underlined that Iraq’s sovereignty, airspace, and territory should not be used as a corridor or base for operations against Iran, and that any attempt to involve Iraq in the conflict would be countered through all legal means.
Iraq called for an immediate cessation of hostilities and urged the use of dialogue and established international law mechanisms to resolve disputes. Officials noted that the region faces unpredictable consequences if tensions escalate further, and they called on major powers, particularly the United States, to act responsibly and work toward a peaceful settlement.
