Israel announces death of two Islamic Jihad leaders
Israel has announced the killing of two Islamic Jihad leaders.
According to military intelligence, one of the killed is a high-ranking commander of the Islamic Jihad Khaled Mansour, who had been actively involved in organising terrorist attacks and rocket attacks on Israel over the past decades, Gazeta.Ru reports citing Times of Israel.
Together with Mansour, Ahmed Madlal, a member of the political leadership of the Islamic Jihad, was also killed.
Prior to that, it became known about the death of another commander of the Palestinian group during an Israeli air strike on the Gaza Strip. The victim of the strike was Taysir al-Jabari, who commanded the al-Quds Brigades (the military wing of the group) in the northern part of the enclave.
On August 5, the Israel Defence Forces launched the Dawn air operation against the Islamic Jihad group. The country's air force attacked weapons workshops, weapons depots and enemy firing positions. In response, about 80 rockets were fired at southern Israel, and 33 of them were intercepted by the Iron Dome air defence system.
