Israel condemns attack on Palestinian civilians as investigation underway
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and Israeli police have launched an investigation following an attack on a Palestinian vehicle near the Shilo junction. The incident occurred after reports of masked Israeli civilians setting tires on fire and throwing stones at Palestinian cars.
The IDF and police issued a joint statement on their Telegram channel detailing the events, Caliber.Az reports.
“A short while ago, the IDF and Israel Police forces were dispatched near the Shilo junction following a report of several masked Israeli civilians who were burning tires and hurling rocks toward Palestinian vehicles on Highway 60, following the evacuation of an Israeli outpost in the area," the statement said.
"Later, an additional report was received regarding several civilians who set fire to a Palestinian vehicle and assaulted its passengers. Firefighters from the Judea and Samaria area responded to extinguish the vehicle, and a fire investigator is on site to determine the cause of the blaze.
The IDF is aware of the claim by a Palestinian woman who escaped from the vehicle after suffering smoke inhalation. She received initial treatment from the Red Crescent at the entrance to the community of Eli.
As a result of the rock-throwing, several Palestinians were injured and one vehicle was damaged. Security forces are currently conducting searches in the area for the suspects.
The IDF and Israel Police condemn all forms of violence and continue to operate to prevent such incidents,” the statement concluded.
