Israel confirms Iranian missiles struck two airbases
Spokesman for the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari has confirmed that several Iranian ballistic missiles struck the Nevatim and Tel Nof airbases during the attack on the night of October 1.
"Thanks to our air defence capabilities and the responsible actions of the public, there were no injuries," he stated, Caliber.Az reports via foreign media.
"There were several impacts in civilian areas in the center of the country, as well as at the airbases in Nevatim and Tel Nof," Hagari added.
“These strikes did not hit any aircraft and did not affect the Air Force's capabilities. Both Nevatim and Tel Nof airbases remain fully operational,” he stated.
“Immediately after the attack, Air Force planes continued to conduct strikes in the Middle East, and they are still engaging in operations,” Hagari added.
He emphasised that Israel will respond to the launch of approximately 200 missiles, and the response will be carried out in a manner, at a time, and in a location of our choosing, in coordination with the political leadership.
Iran fired a massive salvo of ballistic missiles at Israel on October 1 night, sending almost 10 million people into bomb shelters as projectiles and interceptors exploded in the skies above.
Soon after the attack, which was largely unsuccessful, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned Tehran that it had made “a big mistake” and “will pay for it.”
Some 181 missiles were launched in the strike. The Israel Defense Forces said that it intercepted “a large number” of them.
