Among the recent operations, an artillery brigade successfully demolished a building from whose rooftop Hamas militants launched an attack on the Israeli city of Ashdod on September 21. This action forms part of a broader campaign to neutralize militant threats within the region.
IDF units remain actively engaged in the vicinity of Gaza City, delivering precision strikes aimed at dismantling Hamas capabilities and eliminating hostile combatants.
A weapons manufacturing workshop and a group of militants were among the targeted assets, underscoring the IDF’s focus on crippling the operational capacity of militant groups.
On september 21, two rockets were launched from the northern Gaza Strip targeting the southern Israeli port city of Ashdod, marking a rare barrage coinciding with the Israel Defense Forces’ intensified offensive in Gaza City.
According to the IDF, one rocket was successfully intercepted by air defence systems, while the other impacted an open area. This incident represents the first attack on Ashdod since April 6. Fortunately, no injuries or significant damage were reported, and no group immediately claimed responsibility for the strike.
Historically, rocket fire from Gaza was a persistent threat to southern Israel. However, such attacks—particularly long-range barrages involving multiple projectiles—have become increasingly infrequent as the conflict has evolved, largely due to the IDF’s ground operations significantly degrading the militant groups’ launch capabilities.
