Israel excludes Spain from Gaza coordination centre over diplomatic row
Israel has excluded Spain from participation in the Civil-Military Coordination Centre (CMCC) in Kiryat Gat, which was established under a US-backed peace framework, Israeli officials said.
According to Israeli media reports, Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar, in coordination with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, decided that Spain would no longer take part in the coordination body, citing what Israel described as the Spanish government’s “anti-Israel” stance under Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez.
The CMCC, set up as part of a peace plan associated with US President Donald Trump, is intended to facilitate civil-military coordination linked to operations in Gaza.
Israel said Spain’s conduct had undermined the effectiveness of the mechanism, while noting that both Spanish authorities and the United States had been informed of the decision.
