Israel halts further strikes on Iran after Netanyahu–Trump phone call
On June 24, 2025, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s advisor, Dmitry Gendelman, released an official statement via Telegram outlining the timeline of Israel’s latest military actions against Iran and the subsequent ceasefire agreement.
The statement, issued by the Prime Minister’s Office, confirmed that Israel refrained from launching additional strikes after a phone call between Netanyahu and US President Donald Trump.
“The ceasefire was scheduled for 7:00 a.m. At 3:00 a.m., Israel launched a powerful strike at the heart of Tehran, hitting targets belonging to the Iranian regime and eliminating hundreds of Basij fighters and Iranian security forces,” the statement read.
According to the Israeli government, Iran launched a barrage of missiles just before the ceasefire took effect. “Shortly before the ceasefire took effect, Iran launched a volley of missiles, one of which killed four Israeli citizens in Beersheba.”
Despite the formal start of the ceasefire at 7:00 a.m., Iranian rocket fire reportedly continued. “At 7:06 a.m., Iran fired another rocket at Israel, followed by two more at 10:25 a.m. All of the rockets were either intercepted or fell in open areas, causing no damage or casualties.”
In retaliation for what it described as ceasefire violations, the Israeli Air Force carried out a targeted response. “In response to these violations, the Israeli Air Force destroyed a radar system near Tehran,” the statement added.
However, following a direct conversation between the two leaders, Israel chose to stand down. “Following a telephone conversation between President Trump and Prime Minister Netanyahu, Israel refrained from further strikes.”
The statement concluded with an expression of appreciation from the US president: “President Trump expressed his deep gratitude to Israel for achieving all the objectives of the war, as well as his confidence in the durability of the ceasefire that has been achieved.”
