Israel to charge man accused of setting officers alight in Kiryat Motzkin VIDEO
Israeli prosecutors are expected to file an indictment against a 33-year-old resident of Kiryat Motzkin accused of attacking police officers during an incident last month, according to a statement released by the Israel Police spokesperson.
Police said that on January 22, 2026, officers responded to a report of an incident involving a potential threat to life in Kiryat Motzkin.
Officers from the Zvulun police station arrived at the scene and encountered the suspect, who was holding a lighter and a bottle containing a flammable substance.
According to police, during attempts to manage the situation, the suspect set fire to one officer and two additional officers who tried to assist. The suspect then fled the scene but was apprehended following a brief foot pursuit.
As a result of the incident, one officer sustained serious burns to the face, police said.
The suspect has remained in custody since his arrest, and an indictment is expected to be submitted on February 12.
