Israeli Army continues operations in Syria, secures weapons, ammunition VIDEO
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) are continuing their operations in Syria as part of their efforts to establish a buffer zone, the army's press service said.
The main objective of the ongoing operation is to search for, confiscate, and neutralize weapons and ammunition that could potentially fall into the hands of groups hostile to Israel, Caliber.Az reports.
During the operation, Israeli forces discovered an armoured infantry fighting vehicle at one of their checkpoints, which contained a large cache of weapons, anti-tank missiles, and explosive devices.
The IDF's actions are focused on preventing these armaments from being used against Israeli interests or falling into the control of adversarial forces in the region.
The IDF controls the Al-Wahda Dam and the Yarmuk River Valley to the west, along the border between Syria and Jordan.
Israel seized control of Mount Hermon summit, marking a significant shift in its military operations in Syria. The peak, strategically located at the border between Israel, Syria, and Lebanon, has long been a demilitarized zone, monitored by UN peacekeepers. Israeli troops now occupy the highest point in the region, which has been described as a vital military asset due to its commanding view of surrounding areas.
