Italian rights defender hopes Azerbaijan, Armenia to reach peace in future PHOTO

Head of the Italian Federation for Human Rights (FIDU) Antonio Stango hopes Azerbaijan and Armenia will come to peace in the future.

He made the relevant remarks at the roundtable on peace and transitional justice arranged by the Eurasian Regional Centre (ERC) of the Youth Forum of Islamic Cooperation, Report informs.

"I hope that in the future the parties will reach a moment when they can sign a peace treaty ... We must rely on fundamental human rights, for which we can use the mechanisms of the Council of Europe, of which Azerbaijan itself is a member," he said.

Stango added that the principles of justice must be a priority and the International Court of Justice is one of the institutions that must play a key role in these matters.
