Azerbaijan marks 30th anniversary of diplomatic ties with Venezuela
Azerbaijan marked the 30th anniversary of its diplomatic relations with Venezuela during a special event held in Baku.
Organized by the Venezuelan Embassy in Azerbaijan, the event brought together representatives from various state and government structures, members of the diplomatic corps, MPs, and prominent public figures, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
Venezuelan Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Christopher Alberto Martinez Berroteran, delivered a heartfelt welcoming speech, reflecting on the enduring friendship between the two nations. “It was on May 12, 30 years ago, that the path of friendship and mutual cooperation between Venezuela and Azerbaijan began. These three decades have been marked by significant achievements for the benefit of our peoples,” he remarked.
Despite the vast geographical distance between the countries, Ambassador Berroteran emphasized the deep sense of brotherhood that unites them. He further highlighted Venezuela’s steadfast support for Azerbaijan’s leadership role, particularly its chairmanship of COP29 and its ongoing efforts in combating climate change. "Today, we reaffirm Venezuela's support for Azerbaijan's chairmanship of COP29 and its pivotal role in the global fight against climate change," he stated. He also expressed Venezuela’s eagerness to enhance bilateral cooperation in key areas such as trade and energy, fostering a South-South partnership between the two nations.
The official part of the event concluded with a vibrant concert showcasing musical works from both Venezuela and Azerbaijan, underscoring the cultural ties between the two countries.
The celebrations will continue tomorrow with an exhibition featuring artworks by Azerbaijani and Venezuelan artists, further highlighting the shared cultural and artistic heritage that has blossomed over the past 30 years of diplomatic relations.
