JD Vance reveals Trump’s unwritten dress code: black shoes only, strict suits
US Vice President JD Vance has described an informal dress code enforced by President Donald Trump within the White House.
Speaking on a podcast hosted by Fox News presenter Sean Hannity, Vance said the president strongly disapproves of brown shoes and has even personally purchased black shoes for some cabinet members to ensure they adhere to his preferred style.
“The president has a certain sense that you ought to respect the place, you ought to respect the institution, respect the office. And one of the ways you do that is by dressing like a normal person,” Vance said during the interview.
According to Vance, Trump himself consistently appears in public wearing a dark blue suit, a formal tie, and black shoes, and has been known to reprimand officials who do not follow the same standard.
He also noted that criticism has extended beyond foreign leaders to members of Trump’s own family, including Donald Trump Jr., who once attended a September 11 memorial ceremony wearing an open-collared shirt.
