JD Vance: US will continue pursuit of “grand bargain” with Iran
US Vice President JD Vance has stated that the United States will continue working toward what he described as a “grand bargain” that President Donald Trump wants to conclude with Iran.
Vance, who held talks with the Iranian side in Pakistan over the weekend and is expected to lead a possible second round of negotiations if they take place, said he believes the delegation in Islamabad “wanted to make a deal,” despite decades of “mistrust” between Washington and Tehran, Caliber.Az reports, citing CNN.
“I feel very good about where we are,” he said on April 14 at a Turning Point USA event in Georgia.
Vance praised Trump’s approach to negotiations, saying, “He doesn’t want to make like a small deal. He wants to make the grand bargain.”
“The reason why the deal is not yet done is because, the president, he really wants a deal where Iran doesn’t have a nuclear weapon, Iran is not state sponsoring terrorism, but also the people of Iran can thrive and prosper, prosper and join the world economy. And that’s that’s the trade that he’s offering,” Vance added.
“We’re going to keep negotiating and try to make it happen,” he said, noting, “So I will keep fighting for it.”
