“Just another witch hunt”: Trump demands DOJ reveal all names in Epstein case

27 December 2025 16:03

U.S. President Donald Trump urged the Department of Justice to fully disclose the names of all individuals mentioned in files linked to the late financier Jeffrey Epstein, reviving a long‑running controversy surrounding the case.

In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump complained about what he described as renewed attention on the Epstein investigation, writing: “Now 1,000,000 more pages on Epstein are found.”

He added that the Justice Department was being distracted, saying the DOJ “is being forced to spend all of its time on this Democrat inspired Hoax.”

Trump questioned the department’s priorities, asking: “When do they say NO MORE, and work on Election Fraud etc.” He then accused Democrats of having closer ties to Epstein, stating: “The Dems are the ones who worked with Epstein, not the Republicans.”

Calling for full transparency, Trump demanded: “Release all of their names, embarrass them, and get back to helping our Country!”

He argued that political opponents were deliberately shifting the public focus away from his achievements, writing: “The Radical Left doesn’t want people talking about TRUMP & REPUBLICAN SUCCESS, only a long ago dead Jeffrey Epstein.”

Trump concluded by dismissing the renewed scrutiny as politically motivated, describing it as “Just another Witch Hunt!!!”

Jeffrey Epstein, a U.S. financier, was at the centre of a major sex-trafficking investigation. In 2008, he received a controversial plea deal in Florida, serving 13 months in jail for soliciting a minor, avoiding federal prosecution.

In July 2019, Epstein was federally charged with sex trafficking and conspiracy involving underage girls at his New York and Florida properties. He died by suicide in a Manhattan jail cell in August 2019 while awaiting trial.

His associate, Ghislaine Maxwell, was convicted in 2021 for aiding Epstein’s abuse network and sentenced to 20 years in prison.

In 2025, Congress passed the Epstein Files Transparency Act, requiring the DOJ to release unclassified records. Tens of thousands of pages have been released, but review delays persist due to over a million additional documents needing redaction. The released files include investigative material mentioning high-profile figures, though redactions remain extensive.
