Kazakhstan confirms security measures for oil facilities amid Iran tensions
Kazakhstan’s Deputy Minister of Energy, Sanzhar Zharkeshov, told the Senate that oil and energy facilities involving U.S. participation are being safeguarded against potential Iranian attacks, NUR.KZ reports.
“Operations are currently running as normal. Of course, various scenarios are being worked through with all members of the consortium. This is a large project, and we are fulfilling all our obligations to the best of our abilities. Transit countries and energy-importing nations are also taking necessary measures. Everyone is interested in ensuring the process continues without disruption,” Zharkeshov said.
He noted, however, that the specific measures being implemented are confidential and cannot be disclosed by the Ministry of Energy.
In March, Minister Yerlan Akkenzhenov ordered enhanced protection for Kazakhstan’s strategic oil and gas facilities amid the escalation of the Middle East conflict.
