Kremlin gives positive nod to Zelenskyy’s negotiation offers, yet legal block stands
The Kremlin has expressed a positive view of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s willingness to engage in negotiations, although a legal restriction on talks with Moscow remains a significant obstacle.
Speaking at a briefing, Dmitry Peskov, Spokesperson for Russian President Vladimir Putin explained that while the overall approach to dialogue is favourable, the Ukrainian president is still under a legal ban preventing him from holding direct discussions with Russia, Caliber.Az reports via Russian media.
"The issue is who to negotiate with. The legal ban on President Zelenskyy negotiating with the Russian side is still in place," Peskov stated, adding that the situation had not changed despite the president's openness to dialogue.
Peskov also addressed speculation about a potential meeting between Presidents Putin, Trump, and Zelenskyy in Minsk, stating that this possibility had not been discussed. For Russia, he said, Minsk would be the ideal location for such a summit.
