Türkiye has been at the forefront of counterterrorism efforts against ISIS, especially due to its strategic location between Europe, the Middle East, and Central Asia. With its border shared with Syria and Iraq, areas where ISIS has historically operated, Türkiye has faced both external and internal threats from the terrorist group. The Turkish government has implemented a combination of military, intelligence, and legal measures to dismantle ISIS networks operating within the country.
Since ISIS’s rise, Türkiye has been actively involved in military operations both within its borders and across its border into Syria. Turkish forces have conducted operations such as Euphrates Shield in Syria, targeting ISIS-controlled areas and preventing further infiltration of militants into Turkish territory. At the same time, domestic security forces have regularly raided locations believed to be connected to ISIS cells, resulting in arrests and the dismantling of terrorist infrastructure.
