Kremlin spokesperson: Russia still weighs joining Board of Peace
Russia is still formulating its position on the US-backed Board of Peace initiative and the possibility of participating in it, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov on February 26.
Peskov told reporters that the Foreign Ministry was continuing to develop Moscow’s official stance. He said a number of countries, including those considered friendly to Russia, held ambiguous positions on the initiative, and that their views were being considered in the process, Caliber.Az reports per Russian media.
The Board of Peace is a new international body initiated by Donald Trump that aims to supervise peace efforts and long‑term stability initiatives, beginning with the post‑conflict reconstruction in Gaza
The Board of Peace Charter signing ceremony took place on January 22 in Davos, with President Ilham Aliyev and other heads of state and government signing the charter.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has expressed readiness for Moscow to finance the board's work, while stressing that it should prioritise its original mandate — supporting the Palestinian people and rebuilding Gaza.
