Kyiv assembles security-focused team for Geneva peace push
Ukraine has begun formal preparations for upcoming trilateral negotiations with the United States and Russia, scheduled to take place in Geneva on February 17–18. The announcement was made by Rustem Umerov, Secretary of the National Security and Defence Council (NSDC) of Ukraine, in a statement published on his Telegram channel.
Umerov confirmed that the Ukrainian delegation has already commenced preparatory work ahead of the high-level discussions. The talks are expected to address key military, political, and security issues amid ongoing efforts to advance a diplomatic resolution to the conflict.
According to Umerov, the delegation will comprise head of the presidential office Kyrylo Budanov, his first deputy Serhii Kyslytsia, parliamentary faction leader of the Servant of the People party, Davyd Arakhamia, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Andrii Hnatov, and Deputy Head of the Main Intelligence Directorate, Vadym Skibitsky.
“The team has been formed taking into account the military, political, and security components of the process. We will work on substantive decisions within the framework defined by the president. The goal remains unchanged — a sustainable and lasting peace,” Umerov wrote.
