Kyiv: Ukraine needs to get about 300 multiple rocket launchers
The Ukrainian authorities would like to receive about 300 multiple rocket launchers (MLRS) from Western countries.
Mykhailo Podoliyak, an advisor to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, made the statement in an interview published on the website of the British newspaper The Daily Telegraph on June 11, TASS reports.
"As for the MLRS, we don't need three or four systems, but about 300," he said.
Podoliyak added that currently, approximately 90 per cent of combat losses in the Ukrainian Armed Forces are due to the work of Russian artillery, which is significantly superior to Ukrainian.
Earlier, The Times newspaper reported that the UK will send only three M270 MLRS to Ukraine, at least at the first stage. In turn, the United States, which also promised to supply similar MLRS to Ukraine, will send, according to the publication, no more than 10 systems.
Last week, British Defence Secretary Ben Wallace informed that London will hand over to Ukraine an American-made M270 MLRS with missiles capable of hitting targets at a distance of up to 80 km. He also said that Ukrainian troops will be trained to use the systems in the UK so that "they can maximise their effect".
