Kyrgyz, Tajik presidents intend to step up border talks
Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov had a phone talk with his Tajik counterpart Emomali Rahmon.
The leaders of the countries exchanged congratulations on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of bilateral diplomatic relations, according to 24.kg.
“The heads of the countries emphasised the positive experience of cooperation on the platforms of multilateral structures, provision of mutual support within the UN and other regional organisations. In addition, the sides noted that the further development of Kyrgyz-Tajik relations contributes to maintaining peace and stability in Central Asia,” the Kyrgyz presidential press service said.
The presidents outlined the recent progress in bilateral negotiations, which made it possible to complete the design description of the state border line of about 625 kilometres, which is 63 per cent of the total length. Japarov and Rahmon stressed the need to resolve all existing issues exclusively by political and diplomatic means and spoke for stepping up the negotiation process within the intergovernmental commission on delimitation and demarcation of the state border.
