Russian FM slams Euro-Atlantic community for escalating military tensions
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has criticized the efforts of the Euro-Atlantic community, accusing it of concentrating on preparing for a new war, with Germany, France, and Britain leading the charge.
Lavrov's remarks were made during his address at the Antalya Diplomacy Forum, Caliber.Az reports via Russian media.
Speaking on the matter, Lavrov stated, "The entire effort of this Euro-Atlantic community is concentrated on preparing for a new war. And Germany, together with France and Britain, is leading this."
His comments suggest growing concerns about the increasing militarization and tensions in Europe.
The Russian diplomat also underscored that the European Union (EU) has effectively become part of the broader Euro-Atlantic policy, citing the union's involvement in NATO's expansionist plans. "There is no doubt about this, including providing its territory for NATO's plans to move eastward, southward, or wherever," Lavrov remarked.
Lavrov further criticized the outcomes of these policies, stating that Euro-Atlantic structures have failed to bolster security and stability. "What they have succeeded in is fueling tension and re-militarizing Europe, including Germany, despite the deteriorating economic and social situation," he added.
