Kyrgyzstan condemns military escalation in Middle East
Kyrgyzstan has condemned renewed military activity in the Middle East, warning that such actions risk undermining efforts to reach a negotiated settlement.
In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said it was concerned by reports of fresh military strikes involving several countries in the region.
“Kyrgyzstan condemns any military action that could undermine the negotiation process aimed at a peaceful resolution of the conflict. We call on the parties to refrain from steps that could further exacerbate the situation, to observe the ceasefire, and to strictly adhere to the norms of international law and the UN Charter, particularly with regard to Gulf countries that are not parties to the conflict,” the ministry said.
The statement comes amid a sharp escalation in hostilities. On June 3, in one of the most serious exchanges since a truce began, Iran launched missiles at Kuwait and Bahrain. One person was killed in Kuwait, according to the country’s foreign ministry.
At the same time, the United States carried out new strikes on Qeshm Island. The developments followed an earlier announcement by the US military that it had struck an oil tanker heading for an Iranian port.
