Kyrgyzstan offers CSTO to exclude any state attacking ally country
Secretary of Kyrgyzstan’s Security Council Marat Imankulov has proposed to introduce new rules in the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO).
The proposal was voiced due to an aggravation of the conflict with Tajikistan, Gazeta.Ru reports.
“It is necessary to introduce a rule so that all problems arising between the CSTO countries are resolved peacefully. If any party hopes to solve problems by force, we suggest that it be excluded from the organization. Why is this necessary when you become a member of the CSTO and expect protection from an external threat, but you get a conflict with a country within the organization?” Imankulov said.
He also suggested imposing sanctions even for threats to allies.
On September 16 morning, an armed conflict broke out on the border between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan. The parties accused each other of shelling.
