02 April 2024 17:42

A landmine has detonated in the territory of Chayli village in the Tartar region, resulting in injuries to three individuals.

The announcement was made through a joint online statement by the press services of the Interior Ministry, the General Prosecutor's Office, and the Azerbaijan Mine Action Agency (ANAMA), according to Report.

The incident occurred while the victims, identified as Polad Ismayilov (born in 1969), Arzuman Taghizade (born in 1992), and Elmir Bagirov (born in 2006), were grazing animals in an area previously unmarked by clearance efforts along the former contact line.

As the Report’s Karabakh bureau said, Polad Ismayilov sustained severe injuries, resulting in the amputation of both legs at the Tartar District Central Hospital. Meanwhile, the condition of the other two individuals, though serious, was reported as relatively stable, and they were admitted to the Barda District Central Hospital.

An investigation into the incident is currently underway at the Tartar district prosecutor's office to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the explosion.

In light of this unfortunate event, the Interior Ministry, the General Prosecutor's Office, and ANAMA have reiterated their call for citizens to adhere to safety protocols, refrain from entering unfamiliar territories, and remain vigilant of warning signs indicating potential danger.
