Latvia building largest military training ground in Baltic region

Latvia is starting construction of the Selia military training ground near the Lithuanian border.

The 25,500-hectare range will be the largest and most modern in the Baltic region, ERR reports.

In the future, it will be possible to conduct full-scale air defence exercises.

The Latvian Parliament has passed a bill that gives the military training centre the status of an object of national interest.

In addition, the law established in favour of the state an easement or limited right to use land belonging to other persons. This is necessary for the construction of the infrastructure of the military training centre.
