A ceremony marking the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and the United Kingdom has been held at the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA), one of London's most famous art centers.
As Azertag reported, the event was arranged by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and the Azerbaijani Embassy in the UK.
A film named "Treasures of the World - Azerbaijan" produced in partnership with the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, energy giant BP and the Baku Media Center was screened at the ceremony.
The event was attended by the Head of the Azerbaijani-UK Parliamentary Relations Working Group of the Azerbaijani parliament Soltan Mammadov, the UK Prime Minister's Trade Envoy to Azerbaijan, Iraq, Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan Baroness Emma Nicholson, Member of the House of Lords David Evans, ambassadors and diplomats of several countries to the UK as well as members of the British Azerbaijani community and public figures.
Azerbaijani Ambassador to the UK, Elin Suleymanov, emphasized fruitful cooperation between Azerbaijan and BP and spoke about steps taken towards the transition to "green energy".
Suleymanov thanked Nicholson and other members of the British Parliament for contributing to bilateral relations between the two countries. It was also noted that the Foundation strongly supports humanitarian and cultural projects implemented by Azerbaijan in foreign countries.
The ambassador also pointed to the support of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation in making the film, and noted that "the heritage of national leader Heydar Aliyev guides us in the right direction in other spheres as well".
"Today, Azerbaijan is strong as the great leader wished and is developing more dynamically day by day. Our national leader Heydar Aliyev would be proud that Azerbaijan has become a model state in the region and a pillar to all Azerbaijanis of the world," the diplomat said.
